A mission president in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an individual called to preside over an area, called a "mission", where missionary work is performed. Presidents generally serve terms of three years and are accompanied by their families to their assigned mission. In the 1800s, mission presidents would serve for various lengths of time.
